Greensboro Pride did not begin as a large festival with tens of thousands of attendees. It began the way most meaningful movements do, through community members stepping up, volunteering their time, and creating space where none previously existed.
IMPAQT GSO was formed with a simple but powerful belief: that LGBTQ+ people in Greensboro deserve visibility, safety, and support, not just during moments of celebration, but year-round. From the earliest Pride gatherings to today’s Parade and Festival, this work has always been driven by volunteers—people who showed up because they cared deeply about their community and believed in something bigger than themselves.
Over the years, Greensboro Pride has grown into one of the largest Pride events in North Carolina, welcoming more than 90,000 attendees and 300+ vendors in recent years. But growth has never been the goal for its own sake. Growth has been a byproduct of trust, care, and collective effort.
At its core, Pride is an act of service.
It’s volunteers giving hundreds of hours to plan, coordinate, and show up on event day.
It’s community partners offering resources, expertise, and financial support.
It’s local businesses investing back into a community that supports them.
It’s neighbors creating a space where LGBTQ+ people—and especially young people—can feel seen and safe.
IMPAQT GSO exists because community giving matters. Whether through volunteer leadership, sponsorship, donations, or simply showing up, every contribution helps ensure Pride remains free, accessible, and welcoming to all. The funds raised through Pride support not just the festival itself, but the infrastructure needed to build sustainable, inclusive community programming throughout the year.
Why do we do this work?
Because representation saves lives.
Because community reduces isolation.
Because visibility builds resilience.
Because Pride reminds us that we are stronger together.
Greensboro Pride is not owned by any one person or group—it belongs to the community that built it. IMPAQT GSO is honored to steward that legacy, grounded in gratitude for those who came before us and committed to those who will come after.
This is why we volunteer.
This is why we give back.
This is why we continue.
In community and in pride,
IMPAQT GSO
